If you compare Frodo and Sam with Sméagol and his original companion, Frodo fights the ring to the degree he can, while Sméagol gives in right away and kills his companion All folks have weaknesses. In the end, I think what distinguishes the protagonist from the antagonist often is the choice made in similar circumstances. So he is pitiable, and I feel bad for him as he's a pawn to the ring, but he did make some choices early on that perhaps he didn't have to. Gollum certainly gives us something to talk about it. He's so well done.Shari Elderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01196095492746228208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-791862520125080837.post-80201878818210952932016-04-09T06:29:47.297-04:002016-04-09T06:29:47.297-04:00I loved his expressions in the movie... yeah it ki...I loved his expressions in the movie... yeah it kinda makes you feel bad for him.

Visiting from A to Z Challenge
Co-host Pam's Unconventional Alliance Team
A Whimsical Medley
Twinkle Eyed TravellerRajlakshmihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05947753574286557864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-791862520125080837.post-61863410769725399122016-04-08T10:55:35.857-04:002016-04-08T10:55:35.857-04:00I agree. I was just re-watching LotR the other day and I noticed in the very end, when he falls into the lava, he STILL held the ring over his head for as long as possible to try and save it. Poor guy. :(Alyssa Cormierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15634626996912185921noreply@blogger.com
