Y ~ Yarrow

Charles de Lint is one of my favorite fantasy authors.  His Newford series is (as usual) very long and completely wonderful.  Yarrow starts with Y and is pretty much everything I ask for in a fantasy novel.  I remember thinking I'd never love another of his books as much as his The Riddle of the Wren, but I was wrong.  Mr. de Lint has an endless ability to write books I love.

It was a keeper, but somehow has been lost in one of my many moves.  I wish I still had it and hope one day to find another copy.

  1. Ooh, yes, Charles De Lint is wonderful! I love the Newford stories; I'd move there tomorrow if it existed. I was lucky enough to meet him at Swancon in Perth a few years ago, and do a panel with him on YA literature. He and his wife are both musicians and one afternoon they jammed in the hotel foyer with a local harpist who had brought her instrument to the convention.

Yarrow also appears in Pamela Dean's Tam Lin. The heroine, Janet, is looking for some because she has found herself pregnant. The Tam Lin character asks her to please stay pregnant till after Hallowe'en as only a pregnant woman can save him from the Faerie Queen(who is now the head of the university Classics department)

  5. Shirley, Emily and Jen, you'll love him! He is the best author of urban fantasy I know of. If you love folk music, he's also your man.

  6. Never heard of this book or author, but I love your 52 books in 52 weeks challenge and your million pages in a lifetime goal. I've been trying to get through 24 books in a year for three years in a row. I was successful the first year, but since I've kind of fallen apart. Even though I'm behind, maybe I'll get caught up this year? Who knows?

Congrats on making it to the end of April A-Z! Are you ready for a break yet? ;)

    With Love,
    Mandy
